Moved to action by the riots at the Capitol on Jan. 6, approximately 60 people gathered in Sharon Center on Jan. 7 for a pro-democracy rally. Signs and speeches criticized the alleged fascist events that included temporarily disrupting the final count of electoral votes that would name Joe Biden as the winner of the recent presidential election.
Sharon public school students, alumni and parents who gathered in the dark and cold wanted people to know those events would not be silently tolerated.
“Yesterday really showed that white supremacy is engrained in our society and we need to stand up to that,” said Sebastian Armstrong, 18, and a freshman at UMass-Amherst.
