arious events are happening this week in and around DeKalb County, including an art exhibition hosted by City Schools of Decatur, the Avondale Estates State of the City Address, and the Amplify Decatur Music Festival. Several local government meetings are also scheduled for this week.
During the legislative session, lawmakers considered bills that would've prohibited counties and cities from creating local regulations that create different standards for or distinguish gas-powered leaf blowers from similar equipment. The legislation ultimately did not pass the Georgia General Assembly.

Avondale Estates held its Annual Tree Lighting on Monday, Nov. 29. There was a new tree this year, cookies and hot chocolate from the Boy Scouts, Christmas carols were sung by the Decatur Avondale Children’s Choir and Santa Claus arrived on a DeKalb County fire truck.
