An orange alert has been issued for North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Kolkata, Hooghly, Purulia, Murshidabad, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, Malda, Nadia, and Kolkata, which recorded a maximum of 40 degree Celsius on Friday.
IMD weather update: The Met department said heavy to very heavy rain showers can also cause localised flooding, landslides and flash floods in several parts of the country.
South 24 Parganas will receive rain by next Tuesday. In Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly districts, the mercury levels will go down only from Monday,” the weather department said.
