The Essex County Heath Department said they received a call about the encounter on Tuesday, just a day after another resident was able to successfully fend off the fox.
Andrea Whitmarsh with the Essex County Health Department says the virus isn t going away, but public health work can now start to return to "business as usual."
"There's an N-CAP program in New York State, that all pharmacies are allowed to give you free Narcan," said Director of Essex County Public Health Linda Beers.
The program, which is being administered by the Essex County Health Department, seeks to provide locals with access to free snowshoes so they can get out of the house and onto the trails.
