senator mike lee, i promised people i d do everything i can to repeal obamacare. the bill doesn t do that i m a no. and another says i cannotpport pass the senate and it s still obamacare lite. i d be a no in the senate don t think it will pass the house. i stand with the freedom caucus. your reaction? don t go wobbly now. we ve been fighting this for seven years. some have been willing to shut the government down over it and now s the chance to deliver. these are the senate rules. they have full control and the house will deliver this in a major conservative way through the senate. it will be time for them to stop talking and start delivering. shannon: i want to ask you about the matter of essential health benefits. one thing conservatives said
bring it back. so if they go into this and blow it up, any chance to do anything with obamacare, that s out the window. they have to be very careful and make sure that they have the vote count down to the tee when they do go, if they go. shepard: this isn t a small matter, chad. the conservatives don t like the structure at all. they call it obama care light. they don t think the government needs to be in this business and they don t seem to be willing to change their mind. that s one thing that mark meadows said. he s the chair of the freedom caucus. he s not the conscious of the freedom caucus. he doesn t vote in their districts. he doesn t represent those people. he has to speak only for his district and they have to speak for the people in their district. that s where they talked about this title one of obamacare. the essential health benefits. that they required the bills in every health package that is insured under. maternity leave care, medicine and so on.
carlson that his people were taken care of, he wasn t going to sign anything. i m wondering what he said to the people who voted for him who rely on the provisions for opiod addiction, things that were included in those essential health benefits if they go away. respectfully, i think that s a false choice. again, the problem with obamacare they took all these benefitted, mandated that they had to be offered. what happened? it spiked insurance rates. it spiked deductibles. choices went away. the point isn t making a benefit go away or not. it s offering options to people. it s literally like any other service or product that we have here in this country where you can buy what you want. sometimes it s at a lower price point because that s what you can afford. sometimes you buy features on a product because you want the features. but people should have choice just the same way they do in almost every other industry. that s the point. it s not about giving or taking.
