Virginia man charged with fatally stabbing ex-girlfriend

A Virginia man accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend early Wednesday allegedly claimed he was attacked by the woman and another unknown assailant inside his apartment.
But police say physical evidence at the scene did not support Derek Edward Malevich s account of how 32-year-old Kristen Ann Bicking was killed.
Malevich, 40, was arraigned Friday in State District Court on a charge of intentional second-degree murder. Judge Robert Friday set bail at $1 million.
EVELETH â Two juveniles were taken in custody Monday in connection with a West Eveleth stabbing incident where one man was hospitalized.
One of the two juvenile males remains in custody at the Arrowhead Juvenile Center in Duluth and the other released into the custody of his parents, according to a press release from the Eveleth Police Department.
Chief Jesse Linde said the male victim was taken to Essentia Health Virginia for treatment of his injuries and is in stable condition.
According to the release, Eveleth police responded to the 300 block of 15th Avenue West in West Eveleth around 4:13 a.m. Monday on the report of a stabbing. On scene, officers found a 20-year-old male with multiple stab wounds.
MOUNTAIN IRON â Two local residents suffered non-life threatening injuries Tuesday in a three-vehicle accident at Highway 169 and Nichols Avenue in Mountain Iron.
Mary Ann Okoren, 88, of Virginia was injured when her 2017 Ford Escape collided with a 2017 St. Louis County Sheriffâs squad car driven by Jeremy Lee Belleville, 46, of Mountain Iron, who was also injured. Both were taken to Essentia Health Virginia, a State Patrol incident report states.
The Sheriffâs squad car was traveling southbound when the Ford Escape (sitting in the crossover) made a U-turn making contact with the squad car causing a collision at Nichols Avenue with a 1998 Buick LeSabre driven by Kyle James Robinson, 44, of Buhl. Robinson was not injured.

WUORI TOWNSHIP â A Babbitt woman suffered non-life threatening injuries Friday morning when the car she was riding in veered onto the shoulder and struck the guardrail on Highway 169 in Wuori Township, a Minnesota State Patrol report said.
The 2005 Buick Lesabre driven by David Arthur Johnson of Babbitt was southbound at the time. David Johnson, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured in the 8:30 a.m. accident.
Passenger Pauline Mae Johnson, 77, was taken to Essentia Health Virginia. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

MCKINLEY â Two women suffered non-life threatening injuries around 2:30 p.m. Friday after two vehicles collided on Highway 135 at Heritage Trail, according to the State Patrol. The vehicles came together and had a front to side impact.
