2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race surpasses 50th entry milestone

Two-time Overall winner, Quest, has joined the fleet - Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race © Rolex / Kurt Arrigo The 2021 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race has reached its first major milestone, with more than 50 boats already part of a growing fleet for the return of the Great Race. Among them is the 2017 and 2019 Overall winner Ichi Ban, 1971 Line Honours winner Kialoa II, two-time Overall winner Quest and the historic classic yacht Solveig, which won Line Honours in 1953 and Overall honours in 1954. The 50th entry came in from Esperance Bay Yacht Club - Stuart McIntyre s newly-purchased Beneteau First 45 Jucasta. This will be Jucasta s first Rolex Sydney Hobart, but the crew will be familiar to many.

2021 WA Hobie Cat State Championships at Esperance Bay Yacht Club by Susan Ghent 5 Apr 19:40 UTC 3-4 April 2021 What a treat for the Hobie 16 teams who made the journey to Esperance for the Crossview Enterprises 2021 WA Hobie Cat State Championships. Located in the south east of the state of Western Australia Esperance is a unique holiday destination blessed with some of the most pristine waters, white sands and best beaches in the country. Competitors enjoyed fantastic conditions for Hobie Cat racing, right in front of the town centre. Holding the championship event over the Easter long weekend encouraged teams to travel the eight hour journey with their families to do some sightseeing and enjoy a post event holiday.

Photo: Julianne Hill. The GRDC’s Western Region Grower Network held three ‘Summer Sesh’ Local Forum events in January. The meetings were held at Abbey Beach Resort, Broadwater (19 January), Centenary Stadium, Albany (21 January) and Esperance Bay Yacht Club (22 January). A total of 133 guests attended the three events and there was some good discussion around topics of high interest. Those presenting at the forums included: Broadwater: Neil Bennett, media and communication manager at the Bureau of Meteorology in Western Australia, and GRDC senior regional manager Peter Bird
