The days of castle sieges, wandering knights and bustling nunneries are set to be brought back into vivid colour.
A firm called the Escape Games Company is planning to run outdoor escape room -style games at dozens of English Heritage sites across the country, including three in Norfolk.

The adventure will be set in the woodland area which forms part of the racecourse grounds. The game will see participants collaborate in small groups to solve puzzles and crack clues to track down a mischievous jockey who is attempting to sabotage the most important race of the season. During the games, teams will also have to dodge booby traps and use a tablet to find and scan pieces of evidence placed around the racecourse grounds. Actors in full costume will bring the games to life, engaging and interacting with players and further enhancing this outdoor immersive experience. Organisers said Covid-safety will be paramount, with all activities outside and all clues and props cleaned and sanitised after every game.
