For a terrible 11 days in May, the world watched hellfire rain upon the world’s largest open-air prison camp, otherwise known as Gaza. The dazed, bleeding survivors crawling out of the rubble of collapsed buildings have experienced this before.
Everyone knows this tragedy will repeat. In faraway Arab cities, as well as here in Pakistan, people glumly watched the unhindered, televised bombing by Israeli jets. But the most they could manage was a few toothless resolutions and a few impotent slogan-chanting demonstrations trampling the Israeli flag.

As I picked up a pen and paper and sat down to write after what feels like Eons, the thoughts immediately came to mind that I want to share some snippets, some random thoughts that have stuck in my mind as a single mother, as a wide-eyed political member and as a struggling opposition member of Parliament. These are things that left a mark on my mind and have formed themselves into little questions which I would like to share with the leaders.
1) How is it possible to compete with a dead person, especially a loved one, in the eyes of family, children and the public who are always comparing you to a now incomparable barometer. For death renders a person perfect, all flaws cast aside, all slurs forgotten. How can a living, breathing person compete?

Pakistan Television Corporation on Monday issued a special telecast schedule for its viewers on the auspicious occasion of Eidul Fitr titled “Eid- e- Umeed”.
On the first day of Eid mini comedy series “Khatta Meetha”, a special children’s Eid show, “Hum Sab Saath Hain” and Mazahia Mushaira will be telecast. Renowned poets of the country will present their unique poems in the Mushaira. Other programmes to be presented on the first day of Eid include special play “Ishq Wishq”, Tribute to Mehdi Hassan, Ertugrul Ghazi, Legend of Markhor, Creative Kids and the behind-the-scenes recordings of the drama Ertugrul Ghazi. The programs for the second day of Eid include the previous day’s programs as well as “Eid Ki Naveed”, “Becharey Kanwarey” and Star & Style.
