Latest allegations revealed by convicted mafia boss Sedat Peker on Turkish Cypriot journalist Kutlu Adalı’s murder in 1996, has stirred a rage in northern Cyprus.
Republican Turkish Party (CTP), the main opposition in the breakaway Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) urged the police forces to immediately re-open the investigation on Adalı’s murder, that was closed unsolved by Turkish Cypriot authorities.
Turkish Cypriot Journalists Association (KTGB) also called on all authorised units to find the perpetrators of the Adalı murder, in order to “clear up this black spot on press freedom”.
On Sunday, Peker released the seventh video of his series of hour-long tell-alls on YouTube, where he alleged more relations between the Turkish state and mafia. Peker said former police chief and interior minister Mehmet Ağar had hired his brother Atilla Peker to assassinate Adalı.
