election, we re still uncovering more attempts by donald trump to overturn results. according to a new report in the washington post, president trump tried to pressure doug ducey to overturn the election results, saying if now fraudulent votes could be found, it could overcome trump s narrow loss in arizona. we re learning about the content of this conversation for the first time. we already knew trump and ducey spoke after the 2020 election. trump tried to call ducey while he was certifying the election for biden on an official government live stream. on 2020, ducey was literally signing the papers to end the election, seated in front of the press. but you have to listen carefully. you can make out hail to the chief as ducey reaches into his pocket to silence the call. the ring tone is just spectacular. ducey did eventually speak to trump. did not record the call. but we have some idea what it might sound like because trump made a lot of calls in multiple states, tryi
his rationale for not doing it, which is what is in it for me, is at least honest, which is more than you can say for most donald trump utterances. he s right. i think in some ways the very fact there are no levers to force him on the debate stage except maybe ego if he feels like he s going to get beat up too much in his absence, just shows how weak the republican party is. the republican party kind of is not able to exercise any sort of control or discipline over the people vying for the nomination, which is why even though the leaders of the party are desperate for another candidate, they re not able to do the things that would make a viable that would make a challenge to trump viable. you don t think debates matter? no, i mean, look, i understand why people like them. you know, nixon/kennedy. somebody sweated. it was a big deal. i get why people like them. if we can speak as adults, they
bound of attorney/client privilege and there s stuff that giuliani shouldn t talk about or shouldn t be used against trump to the extent giuliani was acting as one of his attorneys. that sort of sets the boundaries of what they re getting at. the other thing i think is happening is that you proffer the immunity so giuliani can t take the theft, he kind of has to answer your questions. in terms of what they re asking him about, again, i think we re really going in deep in terms of who told trump what? did trump direct these people, go find me a way to make fake electors or were the fake electors presented to him kind of without his direction? if it was presented to him, again, who was presenting it, was it just giuliani and powell? were there other people, what was cipollone saying? they re trying to get a sense of what information trump had before trump made his disastrous decisions to try to overturn the election. eight hours with the ex-president s attorney would seem sort of cruci
because we have that very important date. right, right. i know you ve got that coming up. and i can assure that you know, i m going to be working and we re going to be working. and it s, um good. whatever you can do. of course, there is the infamous recording of trump calling georgia secretary of state himself with the same request he had in arizona. the ballots are corrupt. and you re going to find that they are. which is totally illegal. it s more illegal for you than it is for them, because you know what they did, and you re not reporting it. that s a criminal that s a criminal offense. and, you know, you can t let that happen. that s a big risk to you and to ryan, your lawyer. that s a big risk. you can t let it happen. and you are letting it happen. i m notifying you you re letting
