Members of Nesakarangal donated medical equipment worth ₹3 lakh to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital here recently.
S.Chelladurai, president of Nesakarangal home here, handed over the equipment including stretchers and wheelchairs to P.V.Dhanapal, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital.
In Erode, members of Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) donated 320 fans and 150 tube lights, all worth ₹ 5 lakh, to the Erode Medical College Hospital (GEMCH) at Perundurai here.
Members, Prakash Jain, Lalit Jain, Gotam Bothra and Alok Jain, handed over the fans and tube lights to S. Muthusamy, Minister for Housing and Rural Development, recently.
Chennai continues to top the table with 154 cases
As many as 452 persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the State’s tally to 8,48,275. Tamil Nadu recorded three deaths due to the infection.
Chennai recorded 154 new cases. A total of 45 persons tested positive in Coimbatore, while Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur saw 40 and 30 cases respectively.
Except Perambalur, which saw no case, the remaining districts reported under 20 cases each. Of these, Dharmapuri, Kallakurichi, Tenkasi and Thoothukudi saw just one case each. Those testing positive included two returnees from Karnataka. Chennai accounted for one of the three fatalities. The other two deaths were recorded in Dindigul and Tiruppur. 1,132 infections reported across State
Tamil Nadu recorded 1,132 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, even as the number of active cases fell below 10,000 after six months.
As of Tuesday, 9,951 persons were undergoing treatment for COVID-19. The last time the State had less than 10,000 active cases was on May 31.
At 3,122, Chennai accounted for the largest number of active cases, followed by Coimbatore (1,048), Tiruppur (541), Chengalpattu (490), Salem (481) and Tiruvallur (450). Perambalur had the least number of active cases, at five.
The fresh cases took the State’s tally to 8,01,161. As many as 1,210 persons were discharged on Tuesday, taking the total figure to 7,79,291. The State reported 10 more deaths, taking the toll to 11,919.
