Michigan earned their first commitment from the transfer portal on National Signing Day, bringing in LB Jaishawn Barham from B1G East rival Maryland. Let's get to know Barham using some of the tape accumulated from two years of FFFFs and what others are saying: As a recruit Barham was a member of the class of 2022 recruiting cycle, hailing from District Heights, MD, and attending St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. His HS career began with Barham attending DeMatha Catholic and ended at St. Frances, a journey that saw him dip his toes into two of the biggest brands in national HS athletics. Barham was a prized recruit, ranking 119th in the 247 composite, 10th among LBs and 3rd among players in the state of Maryland. Opinions of him were quite favorable, as you'd expect. Late last week I put out a post on the message board asking for questions for a mailbag, as I haven't done one since the summer and now seems like a good time to fit one in. To no one's surprise, nearly all of the questions were football related. I picked the best 14 questions and if yours wasn't chosen, better luck next time. UFR GLOSSARY is here. FORMATION NOTES: Iowa spent most of the game in 12 personnel. They often went with an empty look with a TE and two WRs bunched outside that I called it Empty 3x2 Bunch. The other weird formation from Empty had a pair of tight ends stacked a few yards wide of the box. They ran this a lot when they were in comeback mode late. I called it Empty Demi TEs. They also had this heavy formation with a guy halfway between FB and TE than I called I-Heavy H. Also I've shortened "Trips 2TE Bunch" to TTEB. SUBSTITUTION NOTES: Line favored the starters Moore, Stewart, Goode, and Benny got the same number of drives but between 9 and a dozen fewer snaps.
