Enniskillen Workhouse Project: QMAC Construction Ltd appointed as contractor

A contractor has now been appointed for the Enniskillen Workhouse Project. QMAC Construction Ltd, has been awarded a £2.2m contract for the conservation and restoration of Enniskillen Workhouse Entrance Block, a historically significant Grade B2 Listed Building. Funding of £2,343,000 was awarded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council in partnership with South West College, to undertake this major capital project to create a business enterprise and heritage hub at Enniskillen Workhouse. The project will also involve the coordination of a Reminiscence programme to capture the stories and memories of the Workhouse and the delivery of a Heritage Skills programme which is being managed by South West College.

Bugs, Bees and Native Trees gifts and plants 10 trees at new Fermanagh college campus

AN ALL-ISLAND biodiversity coalition – Bugs, Bees and Native Trees – recently gifted and planted 10 native trees at South West College’s (SWC) brand-new Erne Campus as part of an all-Ireland initiative to help fight climate change. Representatives of Bugs, Bees and Native Trees held a special planting ceremony at the campus on Friday, April 23 – its first to take place in Northern Ireland. It was carried out to align with the college’s sustainability strategy, that is is guided by the One Planet Living principles. SWC is the first Further Education College to adopt the One Planet Living approach in the UK and Ireland.
