Kochi Corporation sets up COVID help desk Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA Gearing up: Justice Devan Ramachandran, judge of the Kerala High Court, inaugurated the Kochi Corporation’s COVID-19 help desk and ambulance units at the Ernakulam Town Hall on Thursday. Thulasi Kakkat The Kochi Corporation has set up a COVID-19 help desk that will function round-the-clock. Depending on the need, calls to the help desk will be redirected to a doctor who will determine treatment protocol or the need for shifting the patient to a care facility depending on symptoms. An ambulance unit has also been readied for COVID emergencies. Two ambulances are now being deployed, while a third one will soon be pressed into service. The ambulances are equipped with medical supplies and oxygen, along with nurses who have been posted to address urgent medical aid requests that come to the help desk.

They were being employed for industrial use. The system of centralised allocation of beds saved the life of about 58,000 people in Ernakulam district, according to a release issued by the health authorities. In the last fortnight, as the second wave of the pandemic became stronger, 22,600 patients could be hospitalised using the centralised system which shows availability and allocates accordingly. The centralised system is jointly managed by the National Health Mission (NHM) and the State Health Department. The system, which completed 60 weeks, was able to ensure timely treatment to 1,70,000 cases.

The duo had got acquainted through Instagram two years ago, following which he began visiting her house during night hours. The parents noticed changes in her behaviour and questioned her, following which she told them of how the youth used to visit her. With the girl subsequently keeping away from him, he even threatened her parents that he would post her photos online. The girl approached the police, following which he was arrested.
