Reprieve and relief have come at last for over 500,000 residents of Ondo State South Senatorial District as Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has taken step to complete the ongoing electrification project in the area.
For over 12 years, more than 2,000 communities in five local councils namely: Okitipupa, Irele, Ilaje, Ese-Odo and Odigbo, have been shut out of the national grid, crippling social and economic activities of the people.
The Interim Administrator of the NDDC, Mr. Efiong Akwa, declared that the 132/33kv sub-station being constructed by the commission in Okitipupa Local Council would soon provide electricity for the communities. x
Akwa disclosed this during a courtesy visit to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in Akure, at the weekend, and also while inspecting the project situated in Ode-Erinje in Okitipupa Local Council of the state.
• Akeredolu Urges Commission To Utilise Resources
The Interim Administrator of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Akwa Effiong, has expressed readiness to work together with critical stakeholders in the region to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
He also declared that his administration would ensure speedy completion of all abandoned projects littered across the nine states that make up the commission.
Effiong said this last Thursday at the Ondo State Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure. He donated three waste management trucks and incinerators to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for environmental sanitation.
According to him, the NDDC top officials were in the state to inspect ongoing construction of the 132KVA transmission station situated at Ode-Erinje in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.
