This is Salisbury s fourth national championship in 20 years.
Mary Claire Hisle only had four saves, but the Salisbury goalie’s steal with 1:13 left allowed the Sea Gulls women’s lacrosse team to run out the clock and win the Division III national championship 14-13 over Tufts on Sunday at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Va.
“I’m so happy,” Hisle said. “I’m so happy that we were able to get a win for our seniors because these guys have been amazing all season, motivating us and keeping us working toward our goal and we did that. We got our goal.”

SALISBURY, MD.- Behind seven goals from Lydia McNulty and five more from Erin Scannell, Salisbury Women’s Lacrosse defeated Christopher Newport 17-8 to capture the 19th conference championship in program history.
Coming into the conference championship at a perfect 14-0, the Gulls welcomed in Christopher Newport, the number three ranked team in the Coast to Coast conference. It looked like we might have a close game as Kendall Krause tied the game up at one for CNU just two minutes into the game. But, thats where the Seagulls would go on a run. Lydia McNulty, Julie Talbert and Erin Scannell (3) took SU on a 5-0 run for the 6-1 lead midway through the first half. After a Captains timeout, CNU was able to get two more on the board to cut the lead to four with 3:50 left in the half. From there, Lydia McNulty took over. The Salisbury Senior netted four goals in the final three minutes to give Salisbury the 11-3 lead at the break.

Scannell got Finn to boost her mental health and cope with loneliness she experienced after transferring to Cornell in fall 2018. An animal science major in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Scannell lived alone during her first semester, and she says the toll of schoolwork and not knowing many others on campus weighed on her. But having Finn as a companion, she discovered, helped to
