STAFFORD - The township school board has decided not to renew the contract of a school nurse who stopped wearing a face mask to work and who remains suspended without pay, according to the nurse, Erin Pein.
Pein said she was notified by Superintendent George Chidiac through an email following Monday night s school board meeting. Chidiac did not immediately return messages.
Her protest centered around what she called the ineffectiveness of face masks in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and their harm to children.
Erin Pein – who has made the cable television rounds in recent days – is quickly becoming an issue in the GOP gubernatorial primary. Both long-shot first timer Phil Rizzo and perennial candidate Hirsh Singh shared videos with Pein on April 25th. Supporters point out that the risk to children and education system workers is minimal compares to the negative impacts of forcing children, especially young kindergarteners and grade schoolers, to wear masks for hours without interruption.

STAFFORD, NJ Stafford Superintendent of Schools George Chiadiac has issued directives for those who plan to protest before the district’s Board of Education meeting today.
Protesters are expected to gather at 4:30 p.m. at the Stafford Township Performing Arts Center in support of Erin Pein, a school nurse who was suspended after she refused to wear a mask. Her supporters applaud her actions as part of a movement to unmask students in the classroom.
“In collaboration with the Stafford Township Police Department, we are asking that this protest remains peaceful and organized for the health and safety of our students, staff, and community,” said Chiadiac in a letter sent last week.
