GRAND PORTAGE, Minn. (FOX 9) - The 37th annual John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon came down to the wire Tuesday night, with only seven seconds separating the winner and the second-place finisher.
Rookie musher Erin Letzring of Skagway, Alaska beat out previous champion Ryan Redington of Wasilla, Alaska, becoming the first female musher to win the Beargrease Marathon since 1998.

GRAND PORTAGE, Minn. (KEYC) â This yearâs John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon has wrapped up with a new champion.
In her first race as a musher, Erin Letzring has claimed her first title by edging out defending champion Ryan Redington to become the first female musher to win the Duluth-to-Grand Portage race since 1998.
âThat is pretty cool, thatâs pretty neat to change that and get a woman back on top of the scoreboard there,â Letzring said.
