Shame on professor
I just read an editorial in my home town newspaper, the Springfield, Missouri News-Leader, captioned Who s Afraid of Critical Race Theory written by an assistant professor of English at Missouri State University. To my surprise he names Governor De Santis of Florida as being one such person afraid.
Is that true? First the Critical Race Theory taught in some public schools is defined as complicated, drawing on legal studies, sociology, critical theory, philosophy, psychology, literature, history, and statistics.
The professor faults those afraid, saying we must teach our children values, exposing them to a diversity of ideas and trust young people to hold fast to those ideas that are good and worthy. To me that is what education is all about. The professor then suggests if you are against teaching antiracism and antiracism thought, yet claim not to be racist you are the genteel cousin of being a racis
