Employees of a government contractor working on local military bases have taken it into their own hands to feed the hungry this holiday season.
A recent employee-led food drive put on by Environmental Chemical Corporation (ECC), a company doing hurricane recovery and infrastructure work on area Marine Corps installations, helped raise thousands of dollars and feed hundreds of people in the Jacksonville and New Bern areas.
“I just thought with our footprint here that we need to be really helping out in the local community,” said ECC employee Erika Mularski, who headed up the Giving Thanks Food Drive at the company’s office on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.
