Tens of countries will stop people travelling to and from the UK over the festive period in the hopes of containing the latest strain of the coronavirus first discovered in Kent in September. Restrictions have cropped up in Europe and beyond, with only Irish residents and Irish-bound passengers stranded while transiting through British airports permitted to travel until a review on Wednesday. Germany has cancelled passenger flights from the UK until 31 December.
