Savannah Mayor Van Johnson and Savannah pediatrician Dr. Ericka Russell-Petty are among the panelists for a community-based town hall Thursday that will address the issues of COVID-19 vaccine disparities and the unequal burden of disease facing the Black and Brown communities.
The community is invited to attend this virtual event live online from 7-8 p.m. Thursday Feb. 18 on Facebook at bit.ly/Savcovidpanel.
Russell-Petty is the president of the Georgia State Medical Association, a professional association founded in 1893 that represents African American physicians in Georgia. Three of her young patients have suffered serious consequences of COVID-19 and she s eager for more parents to become aware of a COVID-linked condition called multisystem inflammatory syndrome in which the organs become inflamed.
