Local Illinois State Scholars announced

FULTON COUNTY – The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is pleased to announce the 2021-22 Illinois State Scholars. In Fulton County the following students earned the distinction of being an Illinois State Scholar:
These top performing students are selected annually based on their ACT or SAT exams and sixth semester class rank and are recognized for their exceptional academic achievement. Illinois State Scholars rank in approximately the top ten percent of graduates from Illinois high schools.
State Scholars are usually announced in early December, however the postponement or cancellation of spring 2020 college entrance exams due to the COVID-19 pandemic delayed this year’s announcements until complete data was available.
Higher education agencies encouraged by steady funding

SPRINGFIELD Despite budget woes stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. JB Pritzker recommended several increases for programs to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in his budget address. State higher education leaders say they are grateful that Gov. Pritzker is continuing his commitment to higher education during these unprecedented times. Higher education funding for public universities and community colleges in Illinois would remain mostly flat for fiscal year 2022 as outlined in the governor’s budget address.
Overall, the governor’s budget proposal would put higher education funding in Illinois at $2.097 billion.
