Reviewer: William Dart Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra s Nordic Fire ushered in a new season with a diverse, stimulating programme just two days after the city s move to lockdown level 1.
Drawing on its own resources in terms of conductor and soloist, the orchestra took us on a glorious, quarantine-free trip to Scandinavia.
Assistant conductor-in residence Vincent Hardaker combined assurance with style in Sibelius Finlandia, an overture to end all overtures, only occasionally too big and brassy for its own good.

Ariathea is original tribal funk soul or music for your mind, booty and spirit . Singer Georgia Duder-Wood is joined by bassist Mat Fieldes, recently returned from a stellar international career based in New York and American percussionists Doug Brush, who has studied and performed with masters on five continents, and Eric Renick, principal percussionist with the Auckland Philharmonic and member of the Antipodes Percussion Project. With additional tracks by award winning producers The Sound Room, and Radio Base fm DJ Anirvan Deva (anirvandeva.wordpress.com), a night of hi-vibes and golden grooves is guaranteed.
