A Lehigh County man was arrested Thursday morning for engaging in a sexual relationship with a student while he was employed as a band director at Bangor Area High School.
Eric Michael Hahn, 38, of South Whitehall Township was taken into custody by troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Belfast barracks’ Criminal Investigation Unit for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a student on Jan. 28.
According to a release from the state police, Hahn was taken into custody without incident.
Trooper Nathan Branosky at the Pennsylvania State Police’s Bethlehem station said that “the relationship started through music lessons” in Oct. 2019, both in and outside of school, when the student was 17 years old.

A Lehigh Valley man was working as a high school teacher when he had sex with a 17-year-old student numerous times over the course of more than a year, state police charged.
Eric Michael Hahn, of South Whitehall Township, engaged in sexual activity with a 17-year-old girl while working as a teacher at Bangor Area High School starting in October 2019, state police said.
Hahn, 38, engaged in the activity both in and outside of school, police said.
Hahn was charged Thursday with intercourse/sexual contact with a student and corruption of minors, both third-degree felonies.
He was being held at Northampton County Prison on $200,000 bail, police said.
