Hudson again tops U S News and World Report high school rankings

U.S. News & World Report on Tuesday released its annual Best U.S. High Schools list, ranking Hudson High School 10th in Ohio and 410th in the nation.  More: Aurora High School in Portage County ranked 13th in Ohio, 477th nationally. Three Cuyahoga County high schools adjacent to Summit County also earned top scores: Solon High School placed fifth in the state and 172nd nationally, Chagrin Falls High School placed eighth in the state and 291st nationally and Brecksville-Broadview Heights ranked 18th in the state, and 545th nationally. Hudson High School Principal Brian Wilch offered his view of the reason for his school s success.

Cuyahoga Falls schools, police investigate threat not believed to be credible

Cuyahoga Falls families with children in the city s school district were advised Monday that the district and police were investigating a telephone threat the district received over the weekend. Superintendent Todd Nichols said the threat was a six-second, computer generated voice message left with the district at 9:37 p.m. Saturday. The message threatened shooting up the school and used racial slurs, Nichols said, adding the threat is not believed to be credible. It was not clear which school was the subject of the threat. Nichols said the district and police were working to identify the perpetrator, and that extra officers would be patrolling and had been assigned to buildings Tuesday.

Kent State police investigating racist graffiti Kent State University police are investigating a reported racist act of vandalism on campus. In a letter to students, faculty and staff, university President Todd Diacon, along with other senior staffers, said an obscenity was written on a campus fixture. This act of vandalism comes from a place of hate, and Kent State will not tolerate it, Diacon said. The Kent State Police Department was immediately made aware of the incident and has begun a criminal investigation.
