The UK and EU sealed a historic trade deal today, setting out the terms of their relationship for years to come.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson held his arms aloft in victory in a photo he tweeted with the words The deal is done after clinching a free-trade deal with the European Union on Thursday at the 11th hour.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said: “We have finally found an agreement. It was a long and winding road, but we have got a good deal to show for it.
“It is fair, it is a balanced deal, and it is the right and responsible thing to do for both sides. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney has said there appears to be âsome sort of last-minute hitchâ in Brexit talks.
Mr Coveney told RTÃ Radioâs Morning Ireland that UK prime minister Boris Johnson had been due to hold a news conference earlier, which has not yet happened.
He said he understands the delay relates to the small text of a fisheries agreement.
âI had hoped to be talking to you this morning in parallel with big announcements happening in both London and Brussels, but we still expect those later on today,â he said.

THE UK AND European Union are on the threshold of striking a post-Brexit trade deal.
An announcement is expected on Christmas Eve, but talks were continuing through the night on the details of an agreement.
The development came as Britain and the EU were believed to have made progress on resolving issues including fishing rights and the “level playing field” measures aimed at preventing unfair competition.
