Letter: Thank you, Johnson County, for successful hog roast
To the editor:
The Franklin Rotary Club is very grateful for the enormous community support and charitable giving at this year’s Jim Rhoades Memorial Hog Roast. More than $40,000 in donations will be shared equally between the Interchurch Food Pantry and the Good Cheer Fund to aid food insecurity in our county.
A huge thanks to:
Malones Catering for their donation and preparation of the delicious food; this event would be impossible without you.
The Johnson County Fair Board for allowing the use of Scott Hall and the grounds.
Indian Creek High School’s Future Farmers of America program for their ever-popular pork chops.
Good Cheer Fund seeing generous support this year

Among supporters of the Good Cheer Fund, the Christmas spirit has been strong so far this year.
Local residents have sent in an unprecedented amount of donations already. More than $26,000 had been contributed to the fund by Thursday.
The annual Jim Rhoades Memorial Hog Roast, which splits its proceeds between the Good Cheer Fund and the Interchurch Food Pantry, served so many people they ran out of food.
In a dreary year, the generosity has been a bright spot this holiday season. But much remains to be done, said Jacob Sappenfield, chairman of the Good Cheer Fund.
