Blanchester Schools Foundation presents scholarships Madison Wells is presented the Jennifer Carter Memorial Scholarship. Chelsie Garner is presented the Ledford Family Scholarship. BLANCHESTER The Blanchester Schools Foundation recently presented four scholarships during the high school’s Senior Awards Ceremony. The four scholarships are valued at $42,000. • The Carnahan Scholarship was established in honor of Iva Jean (Irvin) Carnahan and Raymond Norman Carnahan, who devoted their lives to the love of children and the importance of education. Each year, this scholarship awards $10,000 per year for four years to a Blanchester High School Student to attend Wilmington College. Since 2002, this scholarship has awarded over $994,000 to Blanchester graduates attending Wilmington College.

Local cities, counties to honor veterans with Memorial Day ceremonies

Local cities, counties to honor veterans with Memorial Day ceremonies Hendersonville and Asheville as well as Buncombe and Transylvania counties will hold Memorial Day ceremonies.  Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park will hold a ceremony on May 31 at 11 a.m. in the park at 538 Tracy Grove Road in Hendersonville. The ceremony is dedicated to Lt. Col. Alan Carroll Leonard. An invocation will be followed by the singing of the national anthem by Calintha Cali McClintic, the Pledge of Allegiance, a flag-folding ceremony by the West Henderson High Falcon Battalion Army JROTC and a special presentation from Hendersonville City Councilman Jeff Miller.
