Eagle Tower ribbon-cutting set Friday at Peninsula State Park July 7, 2021 (Wisconsin DNR) FISH CREEK, Wis. – The Wisconsin DNR will host the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at the base of the newly constructed Eagle Tower at Peninsula State Park at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 9. Located on top of Eagle Bluff, Eagle Tower is 60 feet high, with the top observation deck sitting 253 feet above the Bay of Green Bay. The public can now reach the top of the legendary landmark using the 100 tower stairs or the 850-foot fully accessible canopy walk. The tower offers panoramic views of the park, surrounding islands, the Upper Michigan shoreline and local communities – making it a trendy spot for viewing sunsets and taking selfies. And while the stairs are available for quick access, the canopy walk provides an educational and picturesque way to access the scenic views the tower has to offer.

Eagle Tower Reopening to the Public By Casey Nelson May 18, 2021 | 3:04 PM FISH CREEK, WI (WTAQ) – The new Eagle Tower is officially opening to the public in Peninsula State Park on Wednesday. “Eagle Tower is quite the iconic structure in Door County,” said Park Superintendent Eric Hyde. “For some people, that’s the main reason they come to this park. There’s not really too many other areas in the state where you get that kind of view…perched that high over, with that vantage point.” It’s been about five years since people could venture to the highest point in the park to take in the views, and now, anyone who wants to check things out is able to make their way up there.

Peninsula State Park Sees Improvements, Eagle Tower Remains Closed

By Casey Nelson May 8, 2021 4:34 AM FISH CREEK, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The season for camping is just getting started, and for those looking to head to Door County, some upgrades are ready to go. At 1.3 million visitors last year, Peninsula State Park is one of Wisconsin’s most popular destinations. And after years of work, some improvements in infrastructure will be open for business this season. 400 of the park’s 460 campsites have a fresh look. “Everything was kind of aging. Probably everything was done at the same time, 40 years ago. And I know a lot of them haven’t been resurfaced at all. So, they were just getting a little rutted up. A little damaged,” said Eric Hyde, Peninsula State Park Superintendent.

Family Struggles as $60 Million Judgment After Crash Remains Unpaid By Jake Allen | April 13, 2021 NAPLES, Fla. (AP) Joan Antonuccio begged God not to take her daughter as she rushed to Naples Community Hospital from her home in Golden Gate Estates. Antonuccio found herself screaming that she would do whatever it took for her daughter, Angela Crowe, to survive the horrific injuries she suffered in a car crash. Eighteen years later and Crowe is still with her mother. The pair now lives in Tampa and Antonuccio is her daughter’s full-time caregiver because of the injuries from the crash. A jury awarded $60 million to Crowe and Antonuccio in 2015 in a judgment against a former North Naples bar that served Crowe and her then-boyfriend too much alcohol on the night of the crash.
