Formally this week from bill bryant, the science and Technology Director at the department of Homeland Security. He will outline as the president said encouraging news about the impact that heat and sunlight have on the coronavirus which will increase the confidence that we feel about the coming summer. On the subject of testing, at the present moment we have reports of 4. 93 million tests having been performed across america. And encouraging news, as states have been engaging commercial labs at a higher level across the country. Yesterday our commercial lab system did more than 100,000 tests in a single day. So were beginning to activate all of the capacity. And tomorrow at the president s direction our task force will convene a Conference Call with all of the nations governors to talk about their progress they are making on testing and were going to hear from governors about the practices that, and methods that they are employing to significantly increase testing following our briefi
That come back positive has declined very significantly. Last week, roughly 38 of the tests in new york were positive. This week, that number down to is 28 . New cases in new york are down 50 compared to one week ago. Fatalities are down 40 over the same period. In louisiana, the rate of positive test results have declined from 25 down to 15 in the last seven days alone. 18 states now show a decline in the number of positive tests in the last seven days. The last seven days, there has been significant progress. Half of all americans live in states that have now taken steps to open their economies. Just yesterday, governors gavin newsom, california, tim walz of minnesota, and tennessee announced additional plans to restart certain sectors. We ask every american to maintain vigilance and hygiene, social distancing and voluntary use of face coverings. We are opening our country and it is exciting to see. We have a lot of talent involved from governors down to people that just stand there

Lifechanginge, 80 days, but thats what it has been. When we started this situation that we are still in the midst of, before people get march, ent, the end of the White House Task force was still talking about 1. 5 million to 2. 2 million deaths, ok . Their best Case Scenario with mitigation efforts was 140,000 to 240,000 deaths in the united states, which is breathtaking. For new york, there were a number of models that were put up that we are following. Wasmost frightening Columbia University that said we could have 136,000 people in new york city only who would be hospitalized, not infected. Which the mckinsey model suggested 110,000 people could be hospitalized statewide. We had a second scenario from mckinsey which is 55,000 people hospitalized.
