ALLEGANY â A spokesman with Dimes Energy reported Thursday that employees with the company are back to work developing oil and gas wells and operating a recently completed gas pipeline in the Four Mile and West Branch Road areas
Areas off of the two roads in the town of Allegany have been the site of Dimesâ drilling of oil wells over the past few years. The area caught the attention of the surrounding community when Ron and Betty Jo Volzâs house on West Branch was destroyed by an explosion in November 2019. Over the past year, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) officials have conducted an ongoing investigation of the wells near the former Volz residence to determine if there was a connection.
FARMERSVILLE â Alle-Catt Wind Energy LLC has filed a lawsuit in Cattaraugus County Supreme Court against the Farmersville Town Board over the voiding of a road-use agreement required to build the proposed 340-megawatt Alle-Catt Wind Farm.
In an Article 78 lawsuit, Alle-Catt asks the court to rule that the town boardâs Oct. 12 action voiding of the 2019 road-use agreement was an âunlawful terminationâ of a âbinding and valid agreement.â
Town Attorney Eric Firkel said, when the board voted in favor of the road-use agreement in 2019, âThey ignored Local Law 2 of 2001, which said no vehicle weighing more than 8 tonsâ could be driven on town roads except for pickup and delivery. Public utilities were excluded.
