The body of 33-year-old chef and restaurant owner Joette Marie Smith was found floating, caught on a tree limb in the San Lorenzo River in Ben Lomond, in Santa Cruz County, on March 29, 1983.
Joette Smith was found dead in a Santa Cruz County river in 1983. The suspect killed himself as deputies prepared to arrest him, authorities said Thursday.
Joette Marie Smith, 33, of Ben Lomond, was found dead in the San Lorenzo River in Ben Lomond on March 29, 1983. Smith was the owner of the Buffalo Galls restaurant in town.
