When i look at the current debate, syria has fallen off the radar. A racket is taken dominance in public and policy iraq has taken prominence in public and policy debates. The public has not well analyzed there is not great interest. Look at the number of journalists who have written about that compared to the cover job syria. Dangerous lot more place. On balance, what is happening inside syria is not getting enough coverage and policy attention it deserves. I will spend most of my time doing that, because i think it is fundamental to understand what is happening there. The reasons for the conflict are there to last many more years. Ingenuity, then you can get into an insoluble problem here where its a remote part of nigeria and technology is being used against technology. That was actually, we had this conversation a little bit about some of the limits of online activism and some people say activism. You know, this ability of just masses of people to bring attention to these issues. Right, so and we talked about how that kind of bubbled up during the whole Malaysian Airlines hysteria where, you know, we all of a sudden started paying attention to these 200 kidnapped girls but werent paying attention before. And the other kind of analog there is joseph kony 2012, probably the most Massive Campaign in terms of online activism. The whole premise was lets make kony famous and lead to some sort of capture, right . But still, as you say, still out there, wechblt found most of these girls there are limits to what technology can do, right, especially if you have people trying to evade. It goes back to the basic human con

Were here to talk about technology and so many so much of the time we tend to turn to technology to solve our problems. And we have gotten so good at it that a lot of Times Technology solves those problems before we really had a chance to think about whether the problems are really entirely problems or maybe theres something that were losing in the process as well. Maybe that thing that we solved also was beneficial to us in some ways. And so tonight, what were going to talk about, the way that technology has made our lives better, maybe it has taken something away from our lives. They believe he fell asleep coming home at 4 30 in the morning. He should not have been taken away. I mean if he fell asleep at the wheel, fine. But that equipment should have stopped that car. As i first discovered last week, Darrell Blackman hit what is called an end terminal on the guardrail. Here is how its supposed to work the force of the car pushes the end terminal down the length of the guardrail, flattening it into a ribbon of steel. That process gradually slows the car. But lawsuits allege it can lock up, causing the guardrail to pierce the car or kick off, allowing the car to continue on. That appears to be what happened to Darrell Blackman. His Chrysler Seebring flipped a post and went upside down. After seeing my report last week about the et plus, hes calling for hearings and an audit of the contract to purchase the end terminals the fact these are out there, demonstrated not to work as advertised and continue to be out there is unacceptable.
