The Crescent City Grade School fourth and fifth grade students took the annual field trip May 4 to the Iroquois County Administration Building and Irouqois County Courthouse. The teacher is Jody Munsterman and the students are Brehna Berry, Emma Klopp, CJ Fregoso, Parker Wolfe, Ellie Rabe, Alayna Mathews and Skyler Norder.
Students attended an Iroquois County board meeting and led officials in the Pledge of Allegiance. Students heard the opening reports and then visited the county treasurerâs office. Yvonne Doggett, deputy treasurer, engaged students in a real estate tax simulation. First she explained about taxing bodies which receive funds from the county treasurerâs office. She gave each student some fake money and a tax bill, then designated each student to give her the tax money when she asked for it from various taxing bodies. County treasurer Kurt Albers also spoke to the students.

MDARD Celebrates Stewardship Week with Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD)

LANSING, MI - The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), in partnership with the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD), is celebrating Stewardship Week, April 25 - May 2, a nationwide program led by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) that recognizes the importance of natural resource conservation. This year s theme is Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities. Michigan s 20.3 million acres of forests contribute significantly toward the values and quality-of-life shared by its residents, said MDARD Director Gary McDowell. Roughly nine million acres are owned by individuals and families. MDARD works with these landowners to manage their land sustainably through the Forestry Assistance Program and Qualified Forest Program, which are carried out by the 75 Conservation Districts in Michi
Natrona County Fire District firefighters are continuing to lend a helping hand at mass vaccination sites around the US.
Last week, the department announced that fire engineers Darin Pepple, Ryan Grigg and Eric Brandon were ordered by FEMA to work at mass vaccination sites in New York.

On Friday, the district announced that a fourth firefighter, Captain Darek Pepple, will head to Nashville to help with a mass vaccination site there.
As for the first three in New York, NCFD says they are doing well and vaccinations are going smoothly. These sites are said to be set up in socially vulnerable communities that New York has chosen, the fire department said last week. State and federally run vaccination sites will be able to give up to 1,000 vaccines per site, by appointment only.

According to the fire department, fire engineers Darin Pepple, Ryan Grigg and Eric Brandon were ordered by FEMA and will work at New York mass vaccination sites that are opening in the coming week.
Pepple and Grigg will be assigned to Buffalo, New York while Brandil will work in Rochester.
All three will administer or closely assist with the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The fire department says the sites will be set up in socially vulnerable communities that New York State has chosen.
Pepple, Grigg and Brandon will work at sites capable of administering 1,000 vaccines per day.
