The Department of Mineral Fuels (DMF) is accelerating the process to have PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) succeed US-based Chevron Corp to operate the Erawan Gas Block in the Gulf of Thailand amid concerns that DMF s legal conflict with the US company will affect national power generation.
Known as G1/61, Erawan is operated by Chevron, but its concession expires in April next year. PTTEP, which won the auction for the G1/61 concession in December 2018, will be a new operator from 2022.
