Long known as a family neighborhood rooted in its pre-war history, the Upper West Side has found a new life in recent years, attracting young professionals and a commercial boom that’s brought countless downtown restaurants uptown. And, of course, along with this transition comes a reimaging of the residential market. Take for example the 44-unit condo at
2505 Broadway. It was designed by Eran Chen and the architects at ODA in their signature modular style, but it retains the classic sophistication the neighborhood is known for. The residences are refined yet modern, and there is an array of forward-looking amenities such as a state-of-the-art gym with adjacent flexible space used as a sports court or movie theater, a pet spa, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the Hudson River.

JNF-USA is launching Envision Tomorrow s Israel, a design competition, from February 4 – April 15, which seeks concepts and ideas for elements of the campus, including classrooms, dormitories, conference centers, houses of worship, and cafés. Concepts for an iconic structure incorporating Be er Sheva s landscape and status as capital of the Negev are encouraged. This is a competition for an idea, but not just any idea, said Jeffrey E. Levin, chairperson of JNF-USA s Board and co-chair of the Be er Sheva Construction and Building and Subcommittee. Our goal is to create interest in and brand what we are creating in Be er Sheva. London has Big Ben and Hollywood its famed sign. Will a monument make Be er Sheva and the Village internationally recognizable icons? Will the design take advantage of the sun and be all solar? Will rooftop gardens adorn every structure? This international competition will draw ideas for a campus of the future and bestow Be er Shev

While outer-borough loan activity in November fell short of October’s nearly $2 billion, it was an improvement over previous months. In total, the total volume of the top 10 loans was $1.34 billion a big increase over the $494 million in activity in September.
The largest loan was a $298 million refinancing deal for Eliot Spitzer’s massive development at 420 Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, followed by a $193.9 million loan for Two Trees Management’s rental building at 300 Ashland Place in Fort Greene.
