important. this is the party listening to the base of voters who want their voices, heard who too often in the primary process, we have seen in presidential campaigns built before, that is trying to get to more of these diverse and inclusive spaces. unfortunately the candidates have not made it that far so i m hopeful that they will make it a more inclusive and fair process going forward. to that point, debbie, when i was running for president in 2020, i advocated for changing the primary calendar, and the people who ran ads in iowa, saying that they should be let in. what do you make of how these changes, these new ordering of states is going to affect candidates themselves? where they campaign and how they campaigned, the issues that they address as part of their presidential primary campaign? i think that finally it s going to give an opportunity for presidential candidates
this case not working. it s not clear whether it s going to work or not. i was very, very stunned by the fact that warnock was so cautious, so controlled, did not go after his opponent. by a character issue and issues that he thought would resonate. abortion, he thinks, is going to work for him because he thinks walker s position is just too extreme. and when you say to georgia voters i believe in women and their ability to make a decision rather than the government, i think that s going to play very well. rachel: hard to make the case you re for women when your wife or ex-wife says that you beat her up, but that s another story. let s move on to the race in wisconsin. so that s a very important race. it looked like senator johnson was in trouble, and then once senator johnson ran ads, jiewldty, it looks like the ads on crime are really hitting hard against mandela. i think they are, and i think
the trump administration which tried time and time again against institutional bureaucratic headwinds and labor unions as well that didn t want to open back up. rachel: absolutely. and president trump was saying, by the way with, open up the schools. and when he did, the media criticized him, the democrats even ran ads against him, you know, leading up to the election saying he s endangering or you get what i m saying. those were the ads leading up to the campaign. and they said, you know, he s endangering lives, he s making people, you know, making kids accessible to dying. here s a flashback of some of the headlines. i mean, look at that. how can they now say that don can trump shut the schools down when, clearly, they were criticize ising him for saying keep them open. pete: yeah, we ve got the tape. here is donald trump clamoring, pushing, fighting to get schools open. we ve got to go to school. we ve got to open up, open up our schools and open up our businesses. i want to jus
president donald trump, texas senator ted cruz, we , we now, it s easy to lose hope when you see republicans not changing their behavior at all after a tragedy like this, but it s important to remember that when elected leaders won t budge, apply pressure. this was the former florida governor, rick scott, speaking at that same big annual nra event in 2017, that was a year after the pulse nightclub shooting in orlando, they killed 49 people. there he was on stage in an event held by the nra, which consistently gave rick scott an a+ rating, and ran ads supporting scott in election after election after election. but then, there was the shooting at marjory stoneman high school in parkland, florida. 17 people were killed, 14 others were injured. the political aftermath of that shooting, could have easily been just the same empty gestures that we ve seen from
greg: nbc ran ads during the cuomo apology with a split screen of the olympics. up next some restrooms are no go. someone once told me, that i should get used to people staring. so i did. it s okay, you can stare. when you re a two-time gold medalist, it comes with the territory.
