BW LPG – the world’s leading owner and operator of LPG vessels – will retrofit another three MAN B&W 6G60ME-C9.2 type engines to MAN B&W 6G60ME-C9.5-LGIP dual-fuel types, capable of operating on fuel oil and LPG.

When the maritime history books are written, 2020 will be viewed as a year of pivots, re-invention and new paradigms. By February 2020, concerns about marine fuel’s sulfur content quickly shifted to near-term disruptions induced by the COVID-19 pandemic. By mid-year, with demand recovering, the conversation turned to longer term questions surrounding the moves towards reduced maritime carbon emissions and alternative fuels. How will this all impact the current fleet?
Epic Gas Ltd., a leading LPG shipping solutions company, and Lauritzen Kosan A/S, the gas carrier division of J. Lauritzen, have entered into a transaction agreement to combine their fleet and business activities to create BW Epic Kosan.
Combination creates a world leader in last mile delivery of LPG and other speciality gases and petrochemicals: Lauritzen Kosan will contribute 34 gas carriers to EpicGas’s fleet of 43 pressurised gas vessels, in addition to certain other assets,in exchange for new shares in Epic Gas equivalent to a 27% stake.
BW Epic Kosan will have greater scale and synergies across the organisation–the combined fleet of 77 LPG/ethylene vessels will range in size from 3,500 cbm to 12,000 cbm.53 of the vessels will be wholly owned, with a Gross Asset Value of USD 900million. The combined organisation will have significant commercial and technical capability across pressurised, semi-refrigerated, refrigerated gas and petrochemical transportation.

Under the agreement, Lauritzen Kosan will contribute 34 gas carriers to Epic Gas’ fleet of 43 pressurised gas vessels, in addition to certain other assets, in exchange for new shares in Epic Gas equivalent to a 27% stake.
The new company will be headquartered in Singapore, with Copenhagen as a regional office alongside offices in London, Manila, and Tokyo.

BW Group acquires 39.1 % interest in Navigator Holdings December 16, 2020, by Jasmina Ovcina BW Group Limited has bought a 39.1% equity interest in Navigator Holdings, owner and operator of the world’s largest fleet of handysize liquefied gas carriers, from WL Ross.
Navigator Holdings has a fleet of 38 semi- or fully-refrigerated liquefied gas carriers, 14 of which are ethylene and ethane capable.
The company is engaged in the transportation of petrochemical gases, such as ethylene and ethane, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia and owns a 50% share, through a joint venture in an ethylene export marine terminal at Morgan’s Point, Texas on the Houston Ship Channel, USA.
