Summer Camp Like a Grown-Up: Luxury Getaways for the Kid at Heart

As we officially welcome the dog days of summer, fond memories of childhood summers spent at camp are top-of-mind. Lazy days spent lakeside, arts and crafts, horse rides, archery and sleeping under the stars topped off with stories and s’mores around the campfire.
These summertime shenanigans are far from over at the resorts listed below –– offering guests an abundance of activities reminiscent of their days at summer camp (
with an elevated twist). Stargazing, bee workshops, lakefront lounging, wildlife safaris, naturalist workshops, axe throwing and kite-surfing are just a few of the camp-inspired activities guests can enjoy –– finished off with s’mores and a nightcap, of course. Travelers can kick it back old school and indulge in a vacation with something offered for every kid at heart.

Vail Resorts properties Keystone and Breckenridge announced summer opening dates and additional offerings compared with 2020 on Wednesday, April 28.
At Keystone Resort, that includes the return of the downhill bike park and the Keystone Ranch golf course.
“This summer, we look forward to bringing back a wider variety of activities at both resorts,” Vail Resorts spokesperson Sara Lococo wrote in an email.
Daily lift service for Breckenridge Ski Resort’s summer Epic Discovery on-mountain operations will begin June 18 and run through Sept. 6. The resort will also open for an additional weekend Sept. 10-12.
Keystone will open for summer June 24, operating Thursdays through Sundays through Labor Day.

Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek Resort will begin summer operations on June 19, Vail Resorts has announced.
Vail’s summer lift service will operate daily through Sept. 6, at which time operations will switch to Friday-Sunday service, lasting through Oct. 3.
Beaver Creek’s summer lift service will operate daily through Sept. 6, then Saturdays and Sundays only through Sept. 26.
Beaver Creek Golf Club will open May 7 and Red Sky Golf Club is scheduled to open to members and resort guests on May 14.
“Following a reduced operating footprint last summer, guests can look forward to more activities on tap at the resorts for the upcoming summer season,” Vail Resorts announced in a release on Wednesday.
