Rāwhiti School opened in 2015 and was born through the merger of three schools following the Canterbury earthquakes. It operated on dual sites for its first year before moving to its home site in Leaver Tce.

The design utilises many features similar to the coastal environment of the school – native bush, sand, wood and stone.
