Ultramar account frozen for outstanding government debt

Riviera Maya News open menu Ultramar account frozen for outstanding government debt December 18, 2020 | Isla Mujeres, Q.R. Bank accounts of Ultramar have been frozen due to an outstanding government debt in excess of 124 million peso. Isla Mujeres mayor Juan Carrillo Soberanis explained that at the request of the city council, the freezing of accounts was achieved through a court order after the company lost a lawsuit through which it tried to avoid compliance with that financial obligation established in the municipal finance law. Carrillo Soberanis said the company has its accounts frozen due to an Environmental Sanitation Law debt of around 124 million peso, which has not been paid since January 2019.
