Deadline approaches for NI s £2 million Environmental Fund

May 23, 2021 2:00 pm Environmental projects in Northern Ireland that connect people with nature, improve habitats or help tackle threats facing our natural environment such as the decline of native species are being urged to apply for funding. Environment Minister Edwin Poots said applications for the £2 million Environmental Challenge Competition, one of three strands of the Environment Fund, must be received by noon on June 1, 2021. “We are looking for not for profit organisations and councils to apply for funding to help the recovery of nature and to help connect people with nature. So projects might include the creation of nature-rich trails and walkways, outdoor recreation facilities or protection of our coastline, the restoration of habitats and peatlands,” the Minister explained.

May 4, 2021 6:50 pm Applications have opened for a new £2 million Environment Challenge Fund, launched by Environment Minister Edwin Poots last month. The £2million fund is available to not-for-profit organisations and councils to deliver natural heritage projects that support Covid-19 Recovery and Green Growth across Northern Ireland. Grant awards of over £30,000 are on offer with the maximum amount of DAERA funding available under the competition normally being up to 85% of eligible project costs.
