Court wants lake panels to be set up in all districts Court wants lake panels to be set up in all districts ByNaveen MenezesNaveen Menezes / Updated: Jun 16, 2021, 06:00 IST Committees to look after development of lakes, tanks in their jurisdiction The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday ordered formation of committees in every district in the state to oversee maintenance and development of lakes and tanks in their respective jurisdiction. These committees will cover areas that are beyond the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities which have already constituted similar committees as per court’s order dated April, 2012. Chief Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Ashok S Kinagi passed the order after hearing a petition filed by Leo Saldanha of Environment Support Group. The petitioner had sought formation of six committees at different levels from gram panchayath to state level.
