Implementing subprojects of the Rethinking Plastics Project to collect marine litter in Phu Yen and manage ship waste at Cat Lai Port will promote the conservation of the Vietnamese marine environment.
Funded by the European Union and the German federal government, the Rethinking Plastics – Circular Economy Solutions to Marine Litter Project is working on policy development and practical initiatives to reduce plastic waste and marine litter in Vietnam through the promotion of circular economy principles and responsible practices.

To protect the marine environment from ship waste, Vietnam Maritime Administration (Vinamarine) has been working with the EU-German co-founded project Rethinking Plastics â Circular Economy Solutions to Marine Litter. Since April 2020, the sides organised pilot activities at Cat Lai Terminal in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon New Port, to assess existing ship waste management practices and submit recommendations to enhance the management of waste from ships in the port.
