when there had been threats coming from north korea that it could target guam with enveloping fire from missiles. and that raised alert levels there. and also it led to one incident of false alarm being put out by one of the tv stations. it was basically a civil danger warning on august 15th, 2017, on the emergency alert broadcast system and the authorities there had to later say this was a case of human error. it was a much smaller incident, not across the whole island, and just one tv station that did this. but it gives you a sense of how nerves were shaken and people were on edge on that u.s. island. meanwhile, japan has announced that it is going to be conducting another missile test, evacuation drill, in about more than a week s time in tokyo. i ve witnessed one of those drills previously in a small
breaking news, north korea making a new threat moments ago defying the president of the united states red line. as we speak pyongyang claiming it is quote serious lie examining a plan to launch four missiles towards the u.s. territory of guam. the plan according to north korea will be in place in just days and could have the rockets landing just about 20 miles from america s military bases in the western pacific on guam. our ivan watson is out front live from there. ivan this threat, of course, comes about 15 hours after the president said if you threaten again the united states, i will unleash fire and fury the likes of which the world has never before seen and now here we go. kim is doing it. reporter: that s right. and, you know, after the initial threats came from north korea where they singled out guam and said that guam could be the target of enveloping fire as
world has never seen before. thank you. all right. those remarks came after a washington post report which nbc has confirmed saying a u.s. intel asaysment believes north korea has the ability to miniaturize a nuclear weapon and attach it to a missile. however, according to u.s. officials briefed on the intelligence, that does not mean that pyongyang has a nuclear tipped icbm nor that it could survive reentry if they did. this came after japan had air raid drills this week for the first time after world war ii, after the regime stated they re considering striking guam, enveloping fire around the island of guam. guam is home of anderson air force base, the home of the b 1 bombers recently used in the show of force which followed
