Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday held a meeting with his counterpart Arvind Kejriwal in the national capital and extended his support to the AAP chief against the Centre bringing an ordinance to give the control of services back to Delhi Lieutenant Governor.
A day after the Centre brought an ordinance to give the control of services back to Delhi Lieutenant Governor, Aam Aadmi Party Minister Atishi on Saturday said that the party will oppose the illegal and unconstitutional ordinance in the Parliament and the court.
The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre to find a way to give same-sex couples basic social benefits, like joint bank accounts or nominating a partner in insurance policies, even without legal recognition of their marital status, as it appeared that the court could be agreeing that granting legal recognition to same-sex marriages falls within the domain of legislature.
The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing on the petitions challenging the Centre decision dated November 17, 2022, whereby the government has extended the third tenure of the director of Enforcement Directorate SK Mishra.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday trashed the Centre s submission that petitions seeking legal recognition of same-sex marriage merely reflect urban elitist views.
