Dispute prompted Portland RV pipe bombing, DA says
District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced charges against Jake Swingle following the incident on March 6.
A man who allegedly built and exploded a pipe bomb during a dispute with the owner of an RV faces multiple felony charges, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt has announced.
Jake Kenneth Swingle, 24, faces one count each of first-degree arson, manufacture and possession of a destructive device and unlawful use of weapon for the alleged March 6 bombing of the RV parked in the 3800 block of Northeast 141st Drive in the Argay Terrace neighborhood.
Investigators say the PVC bomb broke the rear bumper of the RV in half. The damage included small fragments of cardboard, insulation and plastic, and the metal compartment was deformed as it would be from an explosion, according to a news release.
