Madhur Patel, 24, of Jersey City, was charged with carjacking, throwing bodily fluid at a law enforcement officer, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (Phencyclidine or PCP), according to Police Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera.
On Monday at about 4:26 p.m., the Hoboken Police Department received multiple 911 calls of a man attempting to enter motor vehicles in the area of 14th Street and Park Avenue.
Police Officers Francis McCourt and Enrico Gnassi responded and located the suspect, later identified as Patel. Two victims reported that they were stopped at a red light at the intersection of 14th Street and Park Avenue with one vehicle stopped behind the other.

A Jersey City man tried to steal two vehicles with the drivers still inside and then spit on a Hoboken police officer, authorities said.
Madhur Patel, 24, was arrested Monday at 4:34 p.m. on 14th Street between Park and Willow avenues and charged with two counts of carjacking, throwing bodily fluid at law enforcement officer and possession of PCP, Hoboken Lt. Danilo Cabrera said.
Police officers Francis McCourt and Enrico Gnassi responded to the area after multiple reports of a man trying to break into vehicles and two drivers told the officers they were stopped at a red light at the intersection of 14th and Park Avenue when Patel pulled on their driver’s door handles, trying to get in.
